Juneau

Juneau was the second stop on the cruise. Juneau is the 3rd largest city in Alaska.

I didn't do my yarn shop homework before I left, so when we hit town, I called Margaret. She jumped on the internet and found "Skeins" for me, Juneau's yarn store. Within minutes we had found the shop. I took a deep breath and inhaled the wonderful smell of yarn.

Katie picked the tour of the day, the Taste of Juneau. The tour started in the Alaskan Brewing Company (makers of Alaskan Amber, Alaskan Summer Ale, and many more). What a smart daughter I have, someone must have raised her right.

They have on display beer bottles from all over the world. This rare speciman is a gia-normous Arrogant Bastard. When you have a bottle this big, their funny label is much easier to read. This is definately a beer to share.

And then I found a bottle of my favorite all time beer. Buzzard's Breath was a summer beer made by Big Rock Brewery in Calgary, Alberta. They discontinued it several years ago, so sad. It was fun seeing it again, like a long lost friend.

Now off to Mendenhall Glacier. As Katie demonstrates, glaciers are cold. This was our first Alaska Glacier and a very impressive one. We have lots more glaciers to see after this one. They are so awesome, pictures don't do them justice.

The town of Juneau was fun to explore and shop in. The locals were very nice and gave us great suggestions on what to do and where to eat. Ask Katie about "Wild Spice" next time you see her.
