Ketchikan

After a day at sea, frist stop Ketchikan. Ketchikan brags of 160 inches of rainfall each year which keeps it so green.

Our very big boat was only one of 4 cruise ships docked in Ketchikan on the day that we were there. Now Ketchikan has a population of 7,800. Then you add about 3,000 people on each ship (2,00 passengers and 1,000 crew) which makes a big population boom each and every day. All the stores open when the first cruise ship pulls in. In our case that was 6 am. It's funny to see jewelry stores, t shirt shops and every other retail emporium open at the crack of dawn.

This is the statue that welcomes people to Ketchikan. It also is a reminder that Ketchikan was named the "Salmon Capital of the World". And when you have salmon you have lots of hungry eagles which we spotted in the tops of trees all day long.

This is the extent of Ketchikan that we saw. Peter told us that as far as stops on our trip, Ketchikan had the least to see, so we booked a tour on the outskirts of town.
