Chicago from the River
When it's in the upper 80s in Chicago, the best place to see the city is from the river. We took one of the Architectural Boat Tours. Chicago loves its architecture. And for good reason, the tour was fabulous.
I learned a ton of interesting facts about Chicago architecture. Do I remember any of them? Not really, but I can tell you more styles of architecture can be found in the skyscrapers of Chicago than almost anywhere in the world. I can also tell you that the big building in the middle is the Sears Tower.
This is the Lake Point Tower. Condos in this one cost a pretty penny. This is a form of Post Modern Contextualism where the lines of the building echo the wind and the waves off the lake that it overlooks. Impressed?
And the last stop on our Architectural Tour is a residence in the Irving Park Neighborhood. Was it designed by Frank Lloyd Wright??? Not hardly. But our old buddy Rob lives on the second floor. So if you are ever in Chicago & are walking by this architectural wonder, make sure that you stop in and say hi to Rob.
